The date of the May Council Work Session was changed from Tuesday May 20 to Wednesday May 21; the Planning Board meeting was rescheduled to May 27.
A Public Hearing was held on a proposed Firearms Ordinance. You may read the proposed Ordinance at the link below. Council will discuss and possibly take action at the May meeting.
The Safety Committee meeting previously scheduled for May 8 is rescheduled to June 5.
If you are interested in any of the following openings, please contact us: one regular and one alternate on the Planning Board, two alternates on the Board of Adjustment, two alternates on the Safety Committee, and several openings on the Welcome Committee.
The Village has an opening for a full time Planning/Zoning Administrator. The position includes review and refinement of Village Ordinances, subdivision plats & development plans, as well as processing of conditional use permits, and variances and code enforcement. History of Wesley Chapel

The Wesley Chapel community has existed since the early eighteen hundreds.

J.N. Price, a local member of the State Legislature, introduced a bill, passed March 7, 1801, establishing a tax supported, rural graded high school at Wesley Chapel – one of the first in the state. Bruce Craven the first principal was employed on Jan. 16, 1902 for four months at a salary of $30 per month. Fire destroyed the main two-story building in 1951, it was rebuilt in 1952.

Next door is Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, which began as a brush arbor about 1832; the building constructed shortly thereafter. The church was moved 500 feet south in 1988 to allow the school room to expand.

Today the Village of Wesley Chapel Council continues to meet in the fellowship hall of the Church.

On July 15, 1998 the Village of Wesley Chapel became an official municipality of the State of North Carolina in order to maintain its well respected identity and lengthy heritage. Our population as of July 1, 2006 was estimated by the State Office of Budget and Management to be 4,569.
